Congrats to the R.L. Turner Theatre Dept. this past weekend as they competed at the So. Garland HS and SMU speech and debate tournaments. Sophomore Marvin Harrison placed 2nd overall in both Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation and qualified for state in both events. Jr. Sunita Nayani placed 1st overall in original oratory and qualified for state as well. Soph. Charuta Gavenkar placed 3rd overall in LD Debate and 2nd overall in Original Oratory.

Congratulations to the R.L. Turner Theatre Dept. who competed in the Grapevine Speech and Debate Tournament this past weekend. Junior Lindsey Humphries placed 1st in original oratory and qualified for the TFA State Speech and Debate Tournament which will be held later this year. Freshman Kristina Cobb placed 5th over all in Humorous Interpretation, and Sophomore Marvin Harrison place 6th overall in Poety. Semi-finalist includes Katelyn Taylor in Poetry, Kristin Cobb, Marvin Harrison in Dramatic Interp. and Humorous Interp. Ryan Stremmel and Trevor Kirby in Duet Acting, and Sarah Bell in Poetry. Way to go team!!

Congratulations to the R.L. Turner Theatre Dept. who competed at the first speech tournament of the year in Plano this weekend. Sophomore Marvin Harrison placed 1st in both Humorous Interp. and Dramatic Interp. in the prelim rounds, and finished the tournament in the top 5 percent in the area. Freshman Ryan Stremel advanced in Humorous interp as well as Sophomore Victoria Elliott. In addition, Lindsey Humphries placed 1st in her opening original oratory round. Congrats on a job well done!
